[Cerebral cell adhesion molecule] The protein has been identified by Starzyk RM et al (2000). It is thought that the protein acts as a cell adhesion protein that facilitates leukocyte transmigration across the blood-brain barrier. The protein is being referred to also as CEECAM1 [Cerebral endothelial cell adhesion molecule 1] and has been identified independently as KIAA1502.
The protein was thought to possess galactosyltransferase activity but is most likely inactive (Perrin-Tricaud C et al, 2011). In some databanks the protein is listed as GLT25D3 [glycosyltransferase 25 domain containing 3; also: Inactive glycosyltransferase 25 family member 3].
