This gene encoding a mitotic kinase motif protein has been identified in human LNCaP prostate cancer cells and in patient tissues. Its expression is stimulated by Activin A. Expression of an antisense apoptosin construct into activin induced apoptotic LNCaP cells interferes with genomic DNA fragmentation and prevents apoptosis.
