This peptide, Ala-Thr-Trp-Leu-Pro-Pro-Arg, has been identifed in a phage display peptide library by screening for peptides that are able to block the interaction between the angiogenesis factor VEGF and its receptor, KDR (VEGFR2) (Binétruy-Tournaire R et al, 2000). In some publications, the peptide is being referred to as A7R peptide. ATWLPPR completely abolishes VEGF binding to KDR.
