9804

The 9804 gene encodes a human Ly6 protein most similar to mouse differentiation antigen TSA-1 [thymic shared antigen-1] or Sca-2 [stem cell antigen-2], has also been called RIG-E (Shan et al, 1998).

9804 has a broad tissue distribution with varied expression levels in normal human tissues and tumor cell lines. The 9804 gene is responsive to interferons, particularly IFN-alpha. Sequence comparisons show that the encoded protein is OIP-1 [osteoclast inhibitory peptide-1].
