This peptide (KPPPWVPV), isolated from the skin of the Waxy Monkey Leaf Frog, Phyllomedusa sauvagei (Wang R et al, 2013), is a member of a group of small (4-14 amino acids), heterogenous peptides, termed Tryptophyllins, which are found mostly in the skins of hylid frogs from the genera Phyllomedusa and Litoria. The peptide has been shown to behave like a bradykinin receptor antagonist, relaxing the effects of bradykinin on phenylephrine-preconstricted rat tail artery segments. In addition, the peptide shows antiproliferative activity on human prostate cancer cell lines.
