Rat TEF is a transcription factor expressed specifically in the anterior pituitary during embryogenesis (Drolet et al, 1991). TEF can bind to and trans-activate the TSH-beta (thyroid-stimulating hormone) promoter. TEF transcripts appear also in several tissues in the mature organism.
