abbr. sTHF. This biochemically uncharacterized factor of 66 kDa is found in the serum-free conditioned medium of NIH 3T3 transformed by T24 human bladder cancer cell DNA and by the cloned Harvey murine sarcoma viral oncogene. Soluble THF has no immunological cross-reactivity with known cytokines produced by lymphocytes and macrophages. The factor causes the lysis of red blood cells. It appears that this factor is the soluble form of a membrane-bound factor described as Tumor cytotoxic protein.
