This specialized cell type of Drosophila melanogaster yields four cell types: shaft cells (trichogen cells), socket cells (tormogen cells), neuron, and glial cell (thecogen cells) (Gho et al, 1999; Reddy and Rodrigues, 1999; Fichelson and Gho, 2003; Hartenstein and Posakony, 1989).
