rondonin (IIIQYEGHKH) is an antifungal peptide from the hemolymph of the spider Acanthoscurrria rondoniae, a tarantula of the Theraphosidae family (Riciluca et al, 2012). This peptide has identity to a C-terminal fragment of the "d" subunit of hemocyanin from the spiders Eurypelma californicum and Acanthoscurria gomesiana (Voit et al, 2000) and is thought to result from enzymatic processing in vivo. The peptide is active against Candida albicans and is not hemolytic for human erythrocytes.
