ribosomal protein L7a

abbr. and approved gene symbol: RPL7A. This protein is a component of the large subunit of the 60 S ribosome (60S ribosomal protein L7A) (Klein A and Meyuhas, 1984; Lin et al, 1987; Wittmann-Liebold et al, 1989; Colombo et al, 1991; for gene structure see also: Yoshihama et al, 2002). The mouse gene encoding this protein, which is highly conserved through evolution and has been identified independently as SURF3 [surfeit 3] (Giallongo et al, 1989). A databank synonym for this protein is PLA-X polypeptide.
