ribosomal protein L36A

abbr. RPL36A. This protein, identified by N-terminal sequencing as 60S ribosomal protein L36A or a fragment thereof, is one of four cationic proteins in the acidic extract from the epidermal mucus of the Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua). The protein shows antimicrobial activity against Bacillus megaterium, Escherichia coli and Candida albicans (Bergsson et al, 2005).

For other proteins/peptides with functions in innate immunity and/or antimicrobial activities see also: Innate immunity and defense peptides Dictionary.

For other proteins (or fragments thereof) with at least one additional activity that differs from the established 'classical' activity of the parent protein see also: Dual identity proteins and Cryptides MiniCOPE Dictionary.
