abbr. PSPB (a term with multiple meanings). The protein is known also as PAG 1 [Pregnancy-associated glycoprotein 1]. This acidic glycoprotein (78 kDa) is isolated from placental tissues and detectable in the peripheral blood during the first 30 days of bovine pregnancy (Sasser et al, 1989). It is found also in a variety of other ruminant species, including goats (Humblot et al, 1990), sheep (Willard et al, 1995), fallow doe (Dama dama) (Willard et al, 1998), reindeer (Ropstad et al, 1999), elk and moose (Huang et al, 1999).
