[p53-regulated receptor for death and life 1] This protein, which is identical with UNC5B (UNC5H2) has been identified by Tanikawa et al (2003) as a target of p53. p53RDL1 mediates p53 dependent cell death by apoptosis. Interaction of p53RDL1 with its ligand, Netrin-1, blocks p53 dependent apoptosis. The authors have suggested that p53 might regulate the survival of damaged cells by balancing the regulation of Netrin-1 p53RDL1 signaling, and cell death through cleavage of p53RDL1 for apoptosis.
