[oxyphilic cell]

The term oxyphilic is synonymous with acidophilic, i.e., it pertains to the histological staining behaviour of cells. It is used for any cell type that show a preference for acidic stains (see also: acidophilic cells). For a particular cell type found in the parathyroid glands see: Oxyphil cells.
