This term has been used to describe certain established cell lines that show features or osteoblasts or for cells differentiated, for example, from bone marrow mononuclear cells in cultures containing cytokines favouring the differentiation into osteoblasts, which may be useful in cell-based strategies facilitating bone regeneration.
