normochromic erythrocytes
[normochromic erythrocyte]
a red blood cells that contains normal amount of hemoglobin. Hypochromic erythrocytes contain abnormally low, and hyperchromic erythrocytes contain abnormally high concentrations of hemoglobin. These deviations may be associated with certain diseases and, in part, may coincide with shape deformations (see also: discocytes).
