neuropolypeptide h3

This protein has been identified by Bollengier and Mahler (1988) in human brain and liver. Expression is seen in epithelial and muscular tissue but is most prominent in CNS and muscle. Seddiqi et al (1994) have reported that the protein is abundant in rat testis. Bollengier et al (1993) have reported that the protein is present in rat and human platelets.

The sequence (Seddiqi et al, 1994) shows that the protein is the same as PEBP [phosphatidylethanolamine binding protein] and RKIP [RAF kinase inhibitor protein]. These proteins are the precursor of a bioactive regulatory peptide factor known as HCNP [hippocampal cholinergic neurostimulating peptide].
