neural regeneration protein

abbr. NRP (a term with multiple meanings). This rodent protein has been identified by Gorba et al (2006). NRP has an activity spectrum similar to the chemokine SDF-1, but possesses much greater potency. The gene is first expressed in neural stem cells and expression continues in the glial cell lineages. Recombinant NRP and NRP-derived peptides can induce neural migration and proliferation, promote neuronal survival, enhance neurite outgrowth and promote neuronal differentiation from neural stem cells.

The authors point out that the protein is encoded as a forward frameshift to a DNA repair protein, a homolog ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
