abbr. MGC. See: granulosa cells.
This term is used to make a distinction between the granulosa cells at the wall of the Graafian follicle and another subpopulation of granulosa cells that surround the fully-grown oocyte to form a cumulus-oocyte complex (abbr. COC). See: cumulus cells.
