abbr. MPP type 2 cells. This cell type has been identified by Saenz et al (2010). The cells constitute a population of multipotent progenitor cells that do not express lineage markers and accumulate in response to IL25 in the gut-associated lymphoid tissue that promotes Th2 cytokine responses. The cells show expression of Sca-1 [stem cell antigen-1] and intermediate expression of kit and can give rise to cells of monocyte / macrophage and granulocyte lineages both in vitro and in vivo.
