medium-field cells

Used synonymously: medium-field ganglion cells, medium-field neurons; medium arbor cells (medium arbor neurons, medium arbor interneurons); see also amacrine cells for medium-field amacrine cells.

This term is used by neurobiologists and pertains to descriptions of neurons and ganglion cells based on the lengths of their dendritic processes. In a plane the basal 'dendritic field' then corresponds to an area enclosed by a polygon that joins the most distal points of dendritic processes.
