This neuropeptide, termed also MOIH-1 [mandibular organ-inhibiting hormone 1], is a neurohormone of 78 amino acids synthesized and secreted from the X-organ-sinus-gland complex of the eyestalk in the crab Cancer pagurus and regulates the biosynthesis of the putative crustacean juvenile hormone, methyl farnesoate. The hormone shows significant sequence similarity with molt-inhibiting hormones (for a general overview see also: Webster et al, 2012).
