abbr. MDF (a term with multiple meanings). This biochemically uncharacterized activity of 40-45 kDa is secreted constitutively together with other uncharacterized factors by the human HUT102 cell line, which is transformed by T-cell leukemia virus type 1. All activities induce differentiation of the murine myeloid leukemic cell line, M1, causing an increase in immune complex-binding and/or phagocytizing capacity. The activity is not neutralized by antibodies specific for IL6 or human GM-CSF. As judged by the molecular weight, the activity also does not seem to be G-CSF or LIF
