abbr. Lti cells. These cells seed the developing lymph node and Peyer's patches during fetal develpment and initiate the formation of both types of lymphoid organs (Ivanov et al, 2006; Finke, 2005; Blum and Pabst, 2006). The cells can be considered a subpopulation of innate lymphoid cells. For nomenclature see also: Spits et al (2013).
A similar population of cells, termed lymphoid tissue inducer-like cells (abbr. LTi-like cells), supports the formation of organized gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) in the adult intestine. These cells are most likely identical with a cell type referred to as CP cells [
