This term refers to a class of hematopoietic stem cells with a restricted differentiation potential (see also: lymphoid cells). Lymphocyte progenitor cells are precursor cells of lymphocytes, the primary cells of an immune response. B-lymphoid precursor cells are restricted in their differentiation potential to the lineage of B-cells (see also: hematopoiesis). T-lymphoid precursor cells are restricted in their differentiation potential to the lineage of T-cells.
