abbr. LUCs. This term refers to large peroxidase-negative cells reported in routine complete blood cell tests. The LUC value is a differential count parameter indicating the percentage of cells that do not fit into other subtypes of leukocytes. Large unstained cells usually include virally activated lymphocytes (virocytes), stem cells, plasma cells, hairy cells, pediatric lymphocytes and peroxidase-negative lymphoblasts (For overview see: Vanker and Ipp, 2014; Thirup, 1999).
