abbr. IAP (a term with multiple meanings). Also: integrin-associated signal transducer. This protein is a 50 kDa protein that copurifies with the integrin alpha-V / integrin-beta-3 from placenta and coimmunoprecipitates with integrin-beta-3 from platelets. The protein has been identified by monoclonal antibody B6H12, which specifically inhibits phagocytosis by neutrophils and monocytes induced by interaction with proteins containing the integrin binding sequence RGD. (Brown et al, 1990). IAP is expressed on all hematopoietc cell types and has been shown to be identical with ovarian tumor marker OA3 and CD47 (Mawby et al, 1994; Lindberg et al, 1993).
