[innate T-cell]
The term Innate T-cells pertains to subpopulations of T-cells the effector cell activity of which does not require the activation of antigen receptors. In this sense, MAIT-cells, Gamma-Delta T-cells, and NKT-cells fall into the category of innate T-cells. These innate T-cells share a non MHC class I or II restriction requirement for antigen recognition and recognize foreign/self-lipid presented by non-classical MHC molecules, such as CD1d, MR1, and CD1a (for overview see: Gao and Williams, 2015).
