[HPV16 E5 protein] This protein (83 amino acids) is encoded in the genome of high-risk human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV16), the primary causative agent of cervical cancer. E5 protein has been shown to associate with internal membranes (endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, perinuclear region) (Krawczyk et al, 2010).
