abbr. HIP (a term with multiple meanings). This gene has been identified by differential screening of a cDNA library obtained from human hepatomas. Its expression is increased highly in a considerable fraction of primary tumors (Lasserre et al, 1994). The encoded protein is identical to PAP-1 [pancreatitis-associated protein-1] (Itoh et al, 1995).
