This cell-penetrating peptide has been described by Wang H et al (2016). The peptide has the sequence KIPLPRFKLKCIFCKKRRKR and is derived from C-terminal fragment of the human histone demethylase KDM4A (JMJD2A [jumonji domain containing 2A], corresponding to KDM4A(820-839) [JMJD2A(820-839)]. This sequence is ocated in the core region of the PHD domain, a zinc finger like motif found in nuclear proteins thought to be involved in chromatin-mediated transcriptional regulation.
The peptide has been shown to penetrate into various cells including primary cultured cells
