This name has been given by Brown and Dryburgh (1971) to a peptide isolated from intestinal mucosa. The peptide, YAEGTFISDYSIAMDKIHQQDFVNWLLAQKGKKNDWKHNITQ, was named thus because exogenous administration inhibits gastric acid secretion and gastrointestinal motility in dogs.
