fibroblast-like macrophages

[fibroblast-like macrophage]

abbr. f-macrophages. This cell type from human peripheral blood with features of macrophages has been described by Zhao et al (2003). The cells appear to have characteristics of stem cells and can be expanded in vitro and differentiated into several lineages, including neuronal cells, endothelial cells, and liver cells (Zhao et al, 2003; Kuwana et al, 2003).
