endopeptidase 24.16

also: endopeptidase 3.4.24.16. Abbr. also EP24.16. The enzyme catalogue designation is EC3.4.24.16. Endopeptidase 24.16 was first identified based on its ability to cleave neurotensin-(1-13) (see also: Neurotensin endopeptidase) (Checler et al, 1983). The rat gene has been cloned by Dauch et al (1995) and the sequence shows that endopeptidase 24.16 is the same as Oligopeptidase M, MEP [Microsomal endopeptidase].

The approved name is neurolysin (approved gene symbol: NLN).
