abbr. sometimes Beff cells. The term effector B-cells has been used to refer to classical plasma cells that produce antibodies. It is being used also as a collective term for subsets of B-cells that do not only produce antibodies, but also produce pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL6, IFN-gamma and GM-CSF in contrast to other subsets, usually termed regulatory B-cells, that negatively regulate immune responses by production of anti-inflammatory cytokines such as IL10, IL35, and TGF-beta
