dorsal forerunner cells

this term refers to a small cluster of cells of the endoderm in the gastrula during embryonic development. The name derives from the observation that this cell cluster migrates in advance of the blastoderm during cell movements (epiboly) that occur in the gastrulation stage (Alexander et al, 1999; Warga and Kane, 2018). The forerunner cells are derived from dorsally located marginal cells of the outer epithelium of the blastoderm that have been termed Wilson cells by Warga and Kane (2018).
