This cell type, named by Rompani and Cepko (2010), refers to a population of glial cells in the chick retina. These retinal glial cells are different from immature glial cells and have features intermediate between those of astrocytes and oligodendrocytes and also share a progenitor cell with both astrocytes and oligodendrocytes.
