also abbr. beta c or betac; a signal-transducing component of various cytokine receptors (see: AIC2A), including the major hematopoietic cytokines IL3, IL5, and GM-CSF. Together with a ligand-specific subunit common beta forms high-affinity receptors for the respective cytokines.
