abbr. CBPs or CKBPs. This more term is used mostly in conjunction with virus-encoded or parasite-encoded proteins that have the ability to interfere with the bioactivity of chemokines. These factors, which play a role in immune evasion of pathogens, frequently bind one or more chemokines and usually prevent the interactions of chemokines with their receptors or co-receptors. The term is used also for some receptors known to bind chemokines.
