abbr. CDH13; abbr. also CDHH. Cadherin-13 is the name given to T-cadherin by Tanihara et al (1994). The designation T-cadherin (abbr. T-cad; also: truncated cadherin) refers to the fact that the protein lacks the cytoplasmic region conserved in other cadherin subclasses (Ranscht and Dours-Zimmermann, 1991). Cadherin-13 is called also H-cadherin [heart cadherin], named such because highest expression was observed in the heart (Lee, 1996). Occasionally and for obvious reasons, the factor is also being referred to as H/T-cadherin or T/H-cadherin.
