abbr. AINs. This is a collective term for various nucleoside structures found to be secreted into the conditioned medium of a cell line (57.DR-NS) derived from human decidual tissue. These cells are CD57(+) HLA-DR(bright) and possess characteristics of natural suppressor cells.
These nucleosides (2'-deoxyuridine, ribothymidine, 2'-O-methyluridine, thymidine, 2'-O-methylinosine, 2'-O-methylguanosine) have been found to induce cell death by apoptosis in various types of target cells (Morfi et al, 1998).
