Also: lactalbumin-alpha(104-108). This short peptide, WLAHK, is obtained from bovine alpha-lactoglobulin by proteolytic digestion with typsin. The peptide has been shown to act as an inhibitor of angiotensin-1 converting enzyme (CD143) (Pihlanto-Leppälä et al, 2000). Jacquot et al (2010) have reported that the synthetic peptide is cytotoxic for murine splenocytes, demonstrating a potential influence on immune responses. See also cryptides for bioactive fragments of parent proteins.
