This peptide, also referred to as survival-promoting peptide (abbr. SPP) (YDPEAASAPGSGNPCHEASAAQKENAGEDP), has been purified from the conditioned medium of Y79 human retinoblastoma cells and a mouse hippocampal cell line (HN 33.1) exposed to hydrogen peroxide (Cunningham et al, 1998). The peptide is the same as DSEP [diffusible survival evasion peptide].
