[Vaccinia virus K7R protein] This protein is encoded in the genome of Vaccinia virus and has been identified by Schröder et al (2008). Vaccinia virus K7 protein can inhibit IFN-beta induction in response to pattern recognition receptor activation by preventing IRF3 activation mediated by TBK1 / IKK-epsilon. DDX3 [DEAD box protein 3] has been identified as a critical host target of the viral protein involved in this process. Vaccinia virus K7 protein expression inhibited the activation of NF-kappa-B in response to IL1 and NF-kappa-B activation induced by TLR4 and TLR3. The viral protein also inhibits NF-kappa-B-dependent expression of the chemokine IL8
