[VV F1L protein] This protein is encoded in the genome of vaccinia virus (Wasilenko et al, 2003) and is essential for survival of infected cells. Gerlic et al (2013) have reported that Vaccinia virus F1L protein promotes virulence by inhibiting NLRP1 inflammasome activation and thus IL1-beta production.
Wasilenko et al (2003) have reported that the expression of F1L protein interferes with apoptosis by inhibiting the loss of the inner mitochondrial membrane potential and the release of cytochrome C. The anti-apoptotic activity requires interaction with another virus-encoded protein, Vaccinia virus E3L protein (Fischer et al, 2006).
Wasilenko et al (2005) have reported that Vaccinia virus F1L protein inhibits
