VPE peptide
[vascular permeability enhancing peptide] (E-kinin; SLMKRPPGFSPFRSSRI) is a kinin released from kininogens. The sequence overlaps with that of Bradykinin. It is produced by cleavage of kininogens with neutrophil elastase. The authors have suggested that a processed form, SLMKRPPGFSPFR, which has activities similar to Bradykinin and also smooth muscle contraction activity, is probably an active E-kinin moiety.
