US27
[Cytomegalovirus US27 protein] This protein is encoded by an open reading frame in the genome of human cytomegalovirus, which is transcribed late during infection. Margulies and Gibson (2007) have reported that US27 protein is heavily glycosylated and appears predominantly during the late phase of replication. The protein is present in infected fibroblasts and enveloped virus particles.
US27 shows homology to receptors for CC-Chemokines (Bodaghi et al, 1998). Modification of the chemokine environment of infected cells by depletion of CC-Chemokines can be seen as one way to modify host immune responses towards viral infection.
