Transfer-RNA-derived small RNAs

[tRNA-derived small RNAs] also: tRNA derived small RNA fragments or tRNA-derived fragments (abbr. tRFs or tsRNAs). These tRNA-derived fragments are an abundant class of small non-coding RNAs of 18 to 40 nucleotides that have been found originally in HeLa cells (Cole et al, 2009) and various other organisms, including Tetrahymena thermophile (Pederson, 2010), Giardia lamblia (Li et al, 2008), Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Thompson et al, 2008), plants such as Arabidopsis thaliana (Thale cress) (Hsieh et al, 2009), the filamentous plant pathogenic fungus Magnaporthe oryzae (Nunes et al, 2011).
