In analogy to Th22 cells that produce IL22, Tc22 cells are a subpopulation of CD8(+) T-cells that produce IL22 but lack expression of IL17A and IFN-gamma. Res et al (2010) have suggested a relationship between Tc17 cells and Tc22 cells and have implicated Tc22 cells in the pathogenesis of psoriasis.
