abbr. TAP (a term with multiple meanings). This cellular protein binds to the HIV Tat protein and can potentiate the transactivation of the viral promoter (Desai et al, 1991). The gene has been cloned by Yu et al (1995). Yu et al (1995) have shown that this protein also binds the general transcription factor TFIIB. This protein is identical with C1QBP [complement component 1, q subcomponent binding protein].
